Holiday Shows

November 12, 2010

It’s the season for Arts Markets and Holiday art shows.  Here’s a series of four paintings with handmade frames (done by my husband) that will go into the Falmouth Artists Guild “Arts Market” next week.

And for the annual “Holiday on the Hill” art show at the Cape Cod Conservatory, I have three paintings, two with very appropriate musical themes!

Jewelry from the Sea

October 31, 2010

Here are my latest jewelry creations; all are made with either polished stones collected on the beach or with beach glass found on the beach, naturally polished by the sand and sea.  These are all earrings, but the glass and stone also made beautiful pendants.

Celebrating the Garden

October 1, 2010

Don’t tomatoes, peppers and basil deserve to be celebrated for their lively tastes, their shapes and their gorgeous colors?  I thought so as I worked on this pastel of garden produce!

For the Artists Guild

June 15, 2010

Coming up this summer are two big benefit auctions for the Falmouth Artists Guild, the “Cape Art and Soul” dinner and auction and the Summer Tent Auction. Above are the two paintings I just donated to the events.

Contrasts in light and mood

May 25, 2010

I loved the dark shadows on this walk along the Missouri River in the bottom lands of South Dakota.  What a contrast to the bright light of early spring on the rocks and beach grass of the back dunes of Cape Cod.

Trees on the Horizon

April 20, 2010

This is a palette knife oil of an area in southeast South Dakota along the Missouri River, an area along the Lewis and Clark trail.  This was a hot summer day and the colors were vivid.

Three months of painting

April 9, 2010

I’m really enjoying the exploration of subjects using the palette knife.  I’ve collected the paintings from the past three months in a pdf file that I’ve posted below.  I’m interested in any comments you may want to make on the paintings and whether you think palette knife worked or not for the various subjects.

Prams at Quissett Harbor

March 28, 2010

It’s almost time for boats to go into the water; thinking of spring brings me thoughts of the rowboats moored in Quissett Harbor.  This beautiful harbor is just a short walk from my house.

Ready for Summer

Another view of my favorite spot along Racing Beach.

Time and Tide

March 2, 2010

The energy of tidal exchange and the sparkle of light on the marsh make for an exciting subject for painting.  This is Sippewissett Marsh along the new Falmouth Bike Trail.
